Northport, New York is a small town located on the northern shore of Long Island. While it may not be known for its football, the town has a rich youth football tradition that dates back over a decade. Northport Youth Football, started by Ken Femiano and Chris Pica has had a tremendous history of excellence which has been cultivated by two outstanding President’s Joe Fortuna and Benjamin Carey before later being turned over to Christian Alfaro and Keith Maurino and re-branded as the LI Knights. The football league has been a source of pride for the communities of Northport, East-Northport, Commack, Elwood, Harborfields, and the surrounding area. Many residents attend the games and support the league. Current President Christian Alfaro is a widely respected leader in Long Island youth football and professional circles, and Keith Maurino played quarterback for the Stonybrook Seawolves and is involved in a number of high level youth football leagues on Long Island. Both men are involved in a number of local charitable projects.

The Northport Youth football team has a long and storied history, with many notable achievements over the years. The team has won numerous league titles with it’s first Superbowl appearance in 2013 by Coach Carey and the 2025 Tigers. One of the most famous Northport football alumni is Ed Danowski, who played for the New York Giants in the 1930s and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Northport Tigers youth football teams play their home games at Veterans Field, which is located in the heart of the town. The stadium has a seating capacity of 3,000 and features a state-of-the-art scoreboard and sound system. The field is also used for other sports, such as lacrosse and soccer, and is a popular spot for community events and gatherings.
